Gurtej S Chahal

Chahal founded Skillnet Resources over twelve years ago, upon leaving his role as Management Development Manager of the Malaysian operation of a global food and beverage company.   His expertise, covering a number of HR disciplines has been honed during five years as a consultant, but was formulated in senior HR roles with an international trading house and a major automotive industry player, prior to his 11years at the above F & B company.  A Bachelor of Business Administration graduate from the UK, Chahal is an acknowledged Industrial Relations expert, being retained by a number of major clients to advise them on IR matters.  In addition, he has considerable experience of executive search and selection, developing management development programmes, performance management systems and conducting HR audits.  Chahal has conducted major assignments for clients in a number of different industries, including Electronics, Chemical Manufacturing, Hotels, and Financial Services.

Michael Davies

Chief Operating Officer

Mike, a British citizen, but long term (18 years) resident of Malaysia, went into consulting in 1995 after a long career with a world top five international bank, in a number of senior HR roles.  He has considerable experience of HR across Asia, having worked in Hong Kong for many years, and covered assignments in Indonesia, Singapore, India, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, China and throughout much of the Middle East.  He is a member, by examination, of the UK's prestigious Institute of Personnel and Development (MIPD), in addition to the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management and the same in Hong Kong.  Mike's specialisms include recruitment and development using multiple assessment techniques, and in this he is one of the relatively few, fully trained and licenced practitioners in Malaysia.  He is an acknowledged expert on Performance Management (including writing two books), Remuneration and Reward Management, and much of his recent consulting work has been in the area of strategic HR planning and Outplacement.

Halizan Zain 

Head of Executive Selection and Business Development

With over ten years experience in Search, Selection and Recruitment, Halizan brings to Skillnet a wealth of experience in the Malaysian market place.   After a lengthy spell with one of KL's leading Search Consultants, learning the tools of the trade from an acknowledged global player, she headed the Malaysian Recruitment Division for one of the UK's major Accounting and Consulting Practices.  Her experience covers most of the major sectors, but is particularly strong in ICT and Financial Services.

Michael J Harpham MA (Cantab)

Michael, a resident in Asia for over twenty years, has undertaken many assignments in Malaysia, most in relation to his globally acknowledged expertise in working with teams.  After leaving a major International bank, where he was Teamwork Development Manager, he formed his own consultancy, based in Hong Kong.  Michael's unique approach has enabled many publicly listed companies to develop winning business strategies by harnessing the teamworking strengths of the companies' top level managers and directors.
